Rooted in Wesley. Ready for Tomorrow.

About me…

I’m a lifelong Methodist, a pastor, educator, and writer passionate about renewing the vision of Methodist education for a new generation. With roots in both the United States and the United Kingdom, I bring a transatlantic perspective to the rich tradition of Wesleyan learning — one that forms not only the mind, but also the heart and character.

My background includes leadership in local churches, contributions to Methodist theological education, and a commitment to preserving the historic legacy of Methodist schools while reimagining their future. Whether I’m preaching in a chapel, writing a devotional, or consulting with a school board, I believe education is a sacred calling — a means of grace for individuals and communities alike.

I would love to help your school develop a fresh vision and innovative strategies to ensure it not only survives — but thrives — for generations to come.

Pilot Turnaround Plan

Scope: Local, targeted, and tactical

Purpose:
To rescue or radically reconfigure one specific struggling school by testing innovative strategies that could be scaled later.

Key Features:

  • Focused on one location (e.g. a school at risk of closure).

  • May involve leadership change, financial restructuring, rebranding, or pedagogical overhaul.

  • Designed to test the viability of the larger Renewal Project on a small scale.

  • Requires intense local engagement: governors, staff, parents, students.

  • Results (positive or negative) inform the broader Renewal strategy.

Think of it like: a prototype or case study to prove the concept of renewal is possible in the current climate.

Methodist Schools Renewal Project

Key Features:

  • Develops a new model for Methodist education: ethos, economics, staffing, curriculum.

  • Involves multiple stakeholders: including alumni, governors, educational leaders.

  • Proposes new structures (e.g. shared chaplaincy networks, trust-wide partnerships, alternative funding models).

  • Think tank + implementation team model.

  • Might involve a phased rollout across multiple schools.

Think of it like: a movement-wide reformation or strategy document with vision, goals, and replicable structures.

Testimonials

  • “I’ve had the privilege of mentoring and coaching David over the past three years, and I can say without hesitation: he is the real deal. David brings a rare blend of spiritual depth, strategic insight, and relentless hope — exactly what’s needed in this challenging moment for Christian education. He has a heart for the Gospel, a mind for innovation, and a pastor’s instinct for nurturing people and institutions into new life. If you’re looking for someone to help your school imagine a fresh future and take the courageous steps to get there, David is the person you want in your corner.”

Rev. Dr. Jorge Acevedo, Coach, Writer, Speaker

  • “In the time I’ve known David, I’ve come to admire his intellect, his integrity, and his deep commitment to the values that shape Methodist education at its best. We first connected through a shared love for mission and service, and our friendship has grown through our work on the American Advisory Board of Bahamas Methodist Habitat. David brings wisdom, warmth, and visionary thinking to every conversation — qualities that are rare and desperately needed in today’s educational landscape. I trust him, I value his counsel, and I believe he has an extraordinary gift for helping schools rediscover their purpose and potential.”

Dr. John W. Stewart, III, President, University of Montevallo

His passion for Methodist education is not nostalgic, but forward-looking — rooted in hope, imagination, and practical wisdom. Having known David over time, I have seen firsthand his ability to help institutions recover their foundational charisms while adapting faithfully to the demands of the present moment. His insights are timely; his integrity is deep; and his commitment to the Gospel is unwavering. I commend him, and his work, with confidence.”
